Mum Overcomes ACL Surgery: Linda’s Story (Martial Arts, Three Kids, Two Years On)
Video masterclass
Mum Overcomes ACL Surgery
Linda tore her ACL and meniscus on a tornado kick. Mum of three. Two years later she’s training again — and she can sprint for a forgotten bandana. Her story. Watch the full session below — then open the video page for notes, timestamps, and related guides.
Mastery program
The ACL Comeback Program
A structured 28-day knee rehab program designed for people stuck in the "almost better" phase after ACL or meniscus injury. Rebuild strength, restore confidence, and bridge the gap between feeling okay and being fully back.

A very special guest — she’ll do the introductions
Linda. Two years ago, surgery on her ACL and meniscus. Parent of three very active kids. If you’ve injured yourself and you want an active life back, she recorded this so you can hear a real one — not a highlight reel.
I’m not putting her age on the internet. I am putting this: she was already training with us before the injury. Strength, HIIT, martial arts. She graded. She was on fire. Then she wasn’t.
The full conversation is Mum Overcomes ACL Surgery. Watch on YouTube.
Want a structured program, not just an article?
This guide gives you the framework. The ACL Comeback Program ($50) is our 28-day lower-limb strength block for the “almost better” phase — when you can walk and do daily life but need progressive loading before you trust running again. Pair it with the free Knee Pain Mastery Guide for day-to-day exercises.
The night, the scan, the decision
Tornado kick. Face in the floor. Crutches from across the road. Tears in the car. “It’s just a sprain” until the MRI said tear and she still said sprain. Complete ACL, meniscus, bony contusion, and a strain. We sent her to a surgeon because of the life she needed back — not because every ACL must be reconstructed.

The bar that fills
No single “I’m me again” moment. Off crutches. Limp gone. Running. Kicking. Kneeling. Crossing her legs without thinking. Jumping still in progress. Each one loads the bar. You come back stronger if you take the lessons.

Family is the sport
Exercises in an American audience at ten months. A sprint to Walmart for a bandana a year later. Other mums asking what she’s doing. “I need to get in my rehab.” Don’t put yourself last. If you’re not around, who does everything?

If you want the gym list
The five exercises we use after ACL — sled, extension, landing, deceleration, single-leg — are in a separate video and cluster. That’s the how. This interview is the who and the why it was worth it.

What to do this week
- Watch the interview once without taking notes.
- If you haven’t been checked, book it. Don’t finish the week on “it’s a sprain.”
- If you’re mid-rehab, pick the smallest bar-fill you can succeed at (extension, a quiet walk, a kneel on a pad).
- If the body is moving and you still don’t recognise yourself, start Brick By Brick or book 15 minutes with the Online Rehab Academy.
Linda’s last word on camera was for you to like, share, ask questions, and call if you want to get checked. I’ll answer the comments. You have to walk in.

The ACL Comeback Program is our paid 28-day lower-limb strength and confidence block ($50). We use it for ACL and meniscus rehabs — and for athletes stuck in the “almost better” phase after knee sprain, giving-way, or a long layoff from running and court sport. It is built for the whole lower limb, not only post-op ACL.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Linda?
A client and gym member at Evolve — mum of three, martial arts and strength, first and only physio team. Tornado kick, ACL rupture plus meniscus, surgery, two years of rehab. She tells it in the interview.
Is this the same as the 5-exercises video?
No. That video is the gym details we used with her. This one is the story: the night, the denial, the milestones, the family logistics, and why she stayed after discharge.
Can I watch without reading all the posts?
Yes — /video-library/v/mum-overcomes-acl-surgery or YouTube (https://youtu.be/3wtzFnZ5ldY). The posts are for when you want one chapter unpacked.
What should I do if this is me?
Get the knee checked. Don’t wait for a sprain story to expire. Book in Cabramatta or take the free Rehab Academy discovery call if you’re not local.
What’s Brick By Brick?
A 7-week self-guided program for the mental side of recovery — hesitation, anxiety, not feeling like yourself. Mentioned in the interview. Start at /brickbybrick.
Where do I start reading?
If you’re in denial, the sprain post. If you’re deciding on surgery, that post. If you’re a parent drowning in logistics, the dance-comp and “put yourself last” posts.
