The ACL Comeback Program

A structured 28-day knee rehab program designed for people stuck in the "almost better" phase after ACL or meniscus injury. Rebuild strength, restore confidence, and bridge the gap between feeling okay and being fully back.

Giving-way is a symptom — not a diagnosis

People describe it as buckling, slipping, or the knee “not being there” on stairs or when turning. Until we know whether the driver is ligament, meniscus, swelling, or control, you can’t pick the right plan.

Red flags — get assessed sooner

  • Giving-way after a clear twist/pop injury
  • True locking (can’t straighten)
  • Rapid swelling within hours of trauma
  • Repeated instability in daily life

What we rebuild in clinic

  1. Quad activation and strength (swelling shuts quads down fast)
  2. Single-leg control and hop capacity
  3. Proprioception and confidence under fatigue
  4. Sport-specific cutting when criteria allow

The ACL Comeback Program is our paid 28-day lower-limb strength and confidence block ($50). We use it for ACL and meniscus rehabs — and for athletes stuck in the “almost better” phase after knee sprain, giving-way, or a long layoff from running and court sport. It is built for the whole lower limb, not only post-op ACL.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my knee give way?

Common drivers include ACL deficiency, meniscus tears, quad inhibition after swelling, patellofemoral pain that shuts the muscle down, or poor proprioception after sprain. Assessment sorts structure vs control.

Is giving-way always an ACL tear?

No — but true instability with pivoting or a ‘pop’ history needs ACL ruled in or out. Many people have giving-way from quad weakness or pain inhibition without a complete ACL rupture.

Do I need an MRI straight away?

Not always. We triage clinically first. MRI is useful when the story suggests ligament or meniscus damage, locking, or when progress stalls.

Can physio fix an unstable knee without surgery?

Sometimes — especially if the issue is control, swelling-related inhibition, or a partial injury responding to strength. Complete ACL tears in pivoting sports often need a shared decision with ortho about surgery vs bracing + rehab.

How fast can stability improve?

Quad activation and confidence can shift in weeks; full sport stability takes longer and must be tested under fatigue and change-of-direction.

What should I buy if I’m stuck ‘almost stable’?

Purchase The ACL Comeback Program for a 28-day lower-limb strength and hop rebuild, and request an online consult if you want remote triage of your history and goals.
