Your First Physiotherapy Visit in Cabramatta: What to Expect, EPC, and What to Bring

Start at the start

If you’re reading this, you’ve already done the hard bit — you’ve decided to get help. The first session at Evolve Physio & Mastery, Cabramatta is a conversation, not a performance test. We want to know what the problem is, what you’ve already tried, what a good outcome looks like for you (back to a shift, a court, a baby lift, a marathon) and the constraints (time, work, care duties, other health conditions).

Subjective, objective, and a real plan in one go

We ask in depth (subjective), then we examine — movement, strength, and palpation where needed (objective). In most first appointments, you leave with a working diagnosis or narrow differential, an idea of timeline, a short set of self-management and exercise, and a clear follow-up. If the picture needs imaging, specialist referral, or we’re in red-flag space, that route is the same day, not a surprise week three.

Medicare, private, NDIS, CTP, WorkCover

First-contact is simple; the funding line can feel less so. A GP-issued Team Care (EPC) plan is one Medicare pathway; private health with extras, NDIS, CTP, and WorkCover are their own systems — we are used to the paperwork, but the rule is: bring what you have, ask early, and if you are unsure, our reception and admin will walk you through before you over-commit financially.

Where we send you for deeper content

Once the immediate pain is on a track, a lot of people read the longer guides — low back, knee, NDIS, CTP — the blog is a library, the consult is a tailored layer on top.

Free programs if you are between visits

Our Mastery program suite includes free and paid roadmaps: Knee, Back, Golfer’s low back and the ACL Comeback (paid) for deeper injury-return plans — you don’t have to be a patient, but in clinic we align them with the exam findings.

Book the first visit

Pick a time that is not a rush hour panic for you; first sessions are often 45–60 minutes depending on body region and story. Use our booking form and select 'initial assessment' if the option is shown. We see the whole of Southwest — Liverpool, Canley Heights, Bankstown, Campbelltown, and beyond. Welcome in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor's referral?

In Australia, physiotherapists are first-contact. You can book directly. A GP referral (including an EPC / Chronic Disease Management plan) is only needed for specific Medicare-subsidised episodes — your GP will tell you if you are eligible, not your physio in isolation.

What should I bring?

Loose or stretchy clothing so we can see the area, relevant scans or letters if you have them, a list of medications, and your usual work or training load if the problem is work or sport related.

Will it hurt in the first session?

Some hands-on and testing can reproduce familiar symptoms for a few moments — that helps us be accurate — but the goal is not to 'blow you up' on day one. We adjust intensity, especially if you're highly irritable or post-trauma.

Is exercise always day one?

Usually some level of 'what you can do between sessions' is day one, even if that is a single calm exercise or a load-modification, not a full gym programme. We match the day-one dose to your presentation.

Where are you and how do I book?

Our clinic is in the Cabramatta / Fairfield LGA. Use the Booking page to choose a time, the Contact page for phone and email, and add any insurer or WorkCover/NDIS plan details in your first message. We will guide you on rebates before you over-commit.
