Place a Meaning Behind Your Suffering
Video masterclass
Stop Waiting for Things to Get Better
Stop waiting for things to get better. Three steps to overcome pain: create an end goal, face what happens if you don’t, then flip fear into courage now. Watch the full session below — then open the video page for notes, timestamps, and related guides.
Otherwise you’re just drifting
You’ve been injured. You’re going through pain. You’ve been dropped from a team, a job, or a relationship. None of that is the whole problem. The problem is going through it without a picture of where you’re going.
In Stop waiting for things to get better, step one is simple: create an end goal and put meaning to your suffering. Watch on YouTube.
Destination first
You can fire an arrow into the air and watch it go nowhere. Or you can pick a target. Same effort. Completely different outcome. Recovery without a destination feels like months of exercises that don’t add up. Recovery with a destination turns those same sessions into a path.
One of our clients, Trish, came in with three goals: find a routine, get back to pain-free running, and join a recreational sport. Six months later she had a training rhythm, she’d been running and hiking, and she’d started fighting. That’s what a destination does — it makes progress visible.
Purpose is what gets you out of bed
A goal forces decisions you would not otherwise make. It’s raining. Work was long. Someone wants you to stay home and watch the next season of whatever. Without a goal, you stay. With a goal, you still go — because you have something to attain.
Stagnant water rots. You need movement for filtration. Remove the E from emotion and you get motion. That’s the drive.
What to do this week
- Write one end goal you can see (not “feel better” — a scene: a hike, a game, a park with your kids).
- Name the three smaller targets that would prove you’re on the way.
- Watch the full talk, then run the mindset layer in Brick By Brick.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a goal if I’m just trying to get out of pain?
Pain-free is a start, not a destination. A real end goal — run again, join a rec sport, play with your kids — gives rehab a target on hard days when staying home is easier.
What if I don’t know what my goal should be?
Start with where you are, then paint where you want to be. In clinic we often land on three: a daily routine, a physical capacity (pain-free running, walking the dog), and a life activity (sport, hiking, playing with kids).
